Seattle University men’s tennis completed day two of their first tournament of the 2013-14 season, the EWU Classic hosted by Eastern Washington University.

In the Flight 1 Consolation Bracket semifinals, Montana’s Ethan Vaughn advanced over Kevin Lynch (Colorado Springs, Colo.) due to injury.

In Flight 3 singles quarterfinals, Connor Leahy (Portland, Ore.) was defeated by Montana’s Pete Minagh-Fleming, 6-3, 6-3, and Jason Bediones (Kent, Wash.) was defeated by Montana’s Eric Braun, 6-4, 6-4, 1-0(4).

Similarly, in the Flight 3 singles consolation bracket, Gus Orlando (Sacramento, Calif.) was defeated by Montana State’s Kenny Dodd, 8-6, in the quarterfinal round.

In Red Flight doubles, Idaho’s Jose Bendeck/Cristobal Ramos Salazar advanced over Zach Kosanke (Bellevue, Wash.)/Ian Clare (Sachse, Texas), 8-0. In the same bracket, Lynch/Bediones advanced in the quarterfinals over Montana’s Ethan Vaughn/Andrew Warren, 8-3, but fell to Montana State’s Diego Campos Contreras/Harry James, 8-7(5) in the semifinals.

In White Flight doubles, Riley Newman (Whidbey Island, Wash.) and Leahy were defeated by Gonzaga’s Pablo Mosquera Perez/Nick Kamisar, 8-6.

Decided upon by the participating coaches, the consolation bracket in each doubles flight was abandoned, and only final matches in each flight will be completed on Sunday, the final day of the tournament. As no Redhawks advanced to the final matches, their participation in the tournament is complete. They return to action, closing out the fall season on Oct. 4-6 at the Boise State Invitational in Boise, Idaho.
