END OF HOMESTAND: The Seattle University volleyball team will be hosting the Idaho Vandals Friday night, Oct. 5, in the third match of a three-match homestand for the Redhawks. Seattle U currently sits in ninth place in the Western Athletic Conference standings and needs a victory to start the climb up the standings. The Redhawks come into the match on a four-game losing streak, while Idaho has won its last three matches in a row. However, Idaho has not seen the same success away from home as it has experienced on its own court, bringing a 1-5 road record into Friday's match.

LIVE STATS/VIDEO: Live stats and live video will be available for Friday's match. Links to all online offerings are available from the volleyball schedule page on GoSeattleU.com.

LAST WEEKEND: Seattle U could not take advantage of its home court advantage, losing to UTSA, 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 30-28, 25-23), and to Texas State, 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 27-25) last weekend at the Connolly Center. In Thursday's match, the third set proved to be pivotal, as Seattle U had six chances to close out the set before UTSA was successful on its first opportunity. The Roadrunners used the momentum from that set to prevail in the fourth set, clinching the match. Kaytlyn Dill notched yet another double-double, leading the team with 22 kills, plus earning 10 digs as well as two service aces. Setter Jacquie Brice also earned a double-double with 44 assists and 18 digs, and libero Lani Beadle led the Redhawk defense with 20 defensive digs. Saturday, the Redhawks came out a little flat, allowing Texas State to gain the early advantage. After the Bobcats won the second set, Seattle U threatened to extend the match by taking the lead in the third set, but Texas State held off the Redhawks and completed the sweep. Dill notched her fourth straight double-double and sixth in the last seven matches with 11 kills and 10 digs. With her kill in the second set to tie it at 9-9, she became the sixth player in program history to reach the 1,000-kill plateau. Brice collected 32 assists, and Beadle and McKenzie Daniels both finished with 11 defensive digs to lead the Redhawks.

DOLLAR HOT DOG DAY: At Friday's match, the Seattle U concession stand will be offering hot dogs for just $1 apiece. The concession stand is located right outside the entrance to the North Court on the second floor of the Connolly Center.

SCOUTING IDAHO: The Vandals come into Friday's match with a 6-10 overall record, but a 4-2 record within the Western Athletic Conference, good enough for third place in the conference standings. Idaho is 1-8 away from home this season. As a team, the Vandals are hitting .207 and averaging 12.29 kills, 1.11 service aces, 14.26 digs, and 2.32 blocks per set. Allison Walker Baker, the current WAC Player of the Week, leads the conference with 4.52 kills per set, plus she is second on the team with 2.62 digs per set. Alyssa Schultz is second in the league with a .353 hitting percentage and fourth in the WAC with 1.18 blocks per set. Janelle Chow is third in the league with 4.02 digs per set, and Jenna Ellis is fourth in the conference with 0.32 service aces per set.

SEATTLE U VS. IDAHO: This will be the third meeting between Seattle U and Idaho since the Redhawks started the transition to Division I in 2008, with the Redhawks winning the previous two matches between the two schools. On Sept. 12, 2008, at the Portland State Volleyball Showcase in Portland, Ore., the Redhawks defeated the Vandals in a five-set thriller (25-23, 18-25, 25-23, 18-25, 15-6). Two seasons later, on Sept. 17, 2010, at the Gonzaga Volleyball Classic in Spokane, Wash., Seattle U dropped the first set before winning the next three for a 3-1 victory (17-25. 25-20, 25-19, 25-14).

THE 1,000-KILL CLUB: With a kill to tie the score at 9-9 in the second set against Texas State Sept. 29, Kaytlyn Dill became the sixth player in school history to earn at least 1,000 kills in a career. She joins Sarah Sommerman, Cristin Richards, Nikole Thompson, Lizzy Safranski, and Megan Kaysinger in that exclusive club.
