The Seattle University men's golf team was well-represented on the 2012 America Sky Men's Golf Conference All-Academic Team, as six Redhawk student-athletes earned a spot on the all-academic squad, as announced Thursday by the conference office.

Recent graduates Ian Dahl (Longview, Wash.) and Paul Pavlos (Woodinville, Wash.) received the league academic honor for the second consecutive year. Both student-athletes graduated with magna cum laude honors: Dahl with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and Pavlos with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration with a concentration in finance.

Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.), an accounting major, also earned a spot on the league all-academic team for the second straight year. Quin Koplitz (Enumclaw, Wash.), a management major, and marketing majors Preston Matchett (Billings, Mont.), and Alec Pakzad (Bellevue, Wash.) all received academic recognition from the conference for the first time in their careers.

To be eligible for the America Sky All-Academic Team, student-athletes must post a grade point average of 3.2 or better during the academic year. Among the 12 schools in the America Sky Conference during the 2011-12 academic year, 47 student-athletes were named to the All-Academic Team, the most in league history. Seattle U tied with Hartford for second-most representatives with six, just behind Utah Valley with seven honorees.

"Golfers spend a great deal of time on the course and on the range, so time management is vital in academic success," said America Sky Commissioner Ed Grom. "I am proud to see that 47 America Sky student-athletes have overcome the demands put on them by the sport and have achieved this level of success in the classroom."

The Seattle University men's golf team has moved into the Western Athletic Conference beginning in the 2012-13 academic year. The 2013 WAC Men's Golf Championships will take place at Rio Secco Golf Club in Henderson, Nev., April 29-May 1.
