SEATTLE UNIVERSITY SOFTBALL FINISHES FINAL SEASON IN PCSC: Seattle U softball finishes the 2012 season as they look forward to welcoming two big changes in the near future - a new home field and a new conference home. The team played their final contests as part of the Pacific Coast Softball Conference, as they will move to the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) alongside 16 of SU's 19 other sports, effective July 1, 2012. The Redhawks will also have a newly renovated on-campus home, as the Logan Field reconstruction is currently set to be completed by fall 2012.
PETOSA NAMED TO PCSC ALL-CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM: Sarah Petosa has been named to the College Sports Madness PCSC Second-Team All-Conference. Petosa started 44 of 45 games for Seattle U and finished the season with a team-high .365 average, 54 hits, 40.6 percent on-base percentage, and 10 out of 10 successful stolen base attempts.
FIVE REDHAWKS NAMED TO PCSC ALL-MOUNTAIN DIVISION TEAMS: Petosa was one of three outfielders named to the First Team and Bubba Morrow represented the First Team at the catcher position. Morrow finished fourth on the team with a .293 average, starting all 45 games during her freshman season, and ranked third on the team in runs (18), second in hits (39), third in doubles (6), and first in RBIs (31) and home runs (6). Mandie Sugita was one of three Mountain Division pitchers named to the Second Team. Sugita started 12 games with 29 appearances, as well as five complete games, two shutouts, and two saves in the circle. At the plate, she scored seven runs on six hits, also recording one double and 11 RBIs, and finished second on the team in home runs (3). Brianna Guerrero represented the third base position on the Second Team, finishing third on the team with a .313 average, starting 31 of 41 games played, and recording 17 runs on 30 hits, as well as five doubles, and 12 RBIs. Lisa Maulden was named to the Second Team for the first base position, finishing her freshman campaign with a .279 average, starting 43 games for the Redhawks. She led the team in runs (21), finished second in RBIs (20), tied for second in doubles (7), and tied for third in home runs (2).
ULRICH NAMED PCSC MOUNTAIN DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Jessica Ulrich was named the PCSC Mountain Division Pitcher of the Week on Apr. 17 for her performance in the team's three victories over Utah Valley on Apr. 14-15. Ulrich earned two wins and recorded a 2.92 ERA (12.0 IP, 5 ER) in two starts. She notched her second complete game shutout of the season in the Redhawks' 2-0 win in the series opener on Apr. 14, allowing only five hits. In the series finale, she earned the win in the team's 7-6 victory, striking out three. On the season, at that time, Ulrich was 6-8 with a 4.43 ERA (79.0 IP, 50 ER).
