Pacific Coast Softball Conference post-season award winners have been announced and several student-athletes on the Seattle University softball roster have been named.

"I'm really proud to see our players receive recognition for their outstanding efforts this season," said head coach Dan Powers.

College Sports Madness announced their Pacific Coast Softball All-Conference Teams and Sarah Petosa (Auburn, Wash.) represents the Redhawks on the Second Team.

"Sarah was our spark all year, leading the team in hitting and stolen bases," said Powers. "She became a triple threat for us, with her bunting, slapping, and swinging away."

Petosa started 44 of 45 games for Seattle U and finished the season with a team-high .365 average, 54 hits, 40.6 percent on-base percentage, and 10 out of 10 successful stolen base attempts.

The PCSC also named their 2012 All-Coastal and All-Mountain Division Teams and five Redhawks made the All-Mountain Division First and Second Teams.

Petosa was one of three outfielders named to the First-Team and Bubba Morrow (Auburn, Wash.) represented the First Team at the catcher position.

"Bubba was great both offensively and defensively," said Powers. "She put together a solid freshman year, leading the team in several offensive categories, while throwing out almost 50 percent of the runners attempting to steal."

Morrow finished fourth on the team with a .293 average, starting all 45 games during her freshman season, and ranked third on the team in runs (18), second in hits (39), third in doubles (6), and first in RBIs (31) and home runs (6).

Mandie Sugita (Rossmoor, Calif.) was one of three Mountain Division pitchers named to the Second Team. Sugita succeeded both at the plate and on the mound in her freshman season, starting 12 games with 29 appearances, as well as five complete games, two shutouts, and two saves in the circle. At the plate, she scored seven runs on six hits, also recording one double and 11 RBIs, and finished second on the team in home runs (3).

"Mandie won some big games for us in PCSC play," Powers said. "She showed flashes of dominance and has a very bright future ahead of her."

Brianna Guerrero (Buena Park, Calif.) represented the third base position on the Second Team, finishing third on the team with a .313 average, starting 31 of 41 games played, and recording 17 runs on 30 hits, as well as five doubles, and 12 RBIs.

"[Brianna] had a big year for us at third base," said Powers. "She took over the starting role and never looked back. She was one of our offensive leaders all season, as well as a defensive specialist."

Lisa Maulden (Maple Valley, Wash.) was named to the Second Team for the first base position, finishing her freshman campaign with a .279 average, starting 43 games for the Redhawks. She led the team in runs (21), finished second in RBIs (20), tied for second in doubles (7), and tied for third in home runs (2).

"Lisa was a pleasant surprise after walking on this fall," said Powers. "She took over first base from day one and put together a nice freshman year. She has a lot of pop in her bat and is very disciplined at the plate."

Seattle U softball has several exciting changes ahead, including joining the Western Athletic Conference for the 2012-13 season, as well as the renovation of their on-campus home, Logan Field, to be completed by fall 2012.

Powers concludes, "The future of Redhawks softball is very promising, with each of these players having two to three years of eligibility left."
