The Seattle University men's golf team scored 617 at the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational to finish in a tie for 13th place.

The Seattle University men's golf team scored a collective 311 Tuesday in the final round of the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invite to give them a tournament total of 617 and a tie for 13th place with CSU Bakersfield.

Four Redhawks finished the two-day tournament within two strokes of each other. Preston Matchett (Billings, Mont.) took the team lead with a tournament score of 154 (+10) and a piece of 54th place. He shot 77 (+5) both days.

Paul Pavlos (Woodinville, Wash.) finished one stroke behind Matchett, both in the tournament standings and in Tuesday's results. Pavlos combined Monday's 77 (+5) with a 78 (+6) on Tuesday for a total of 155 (+11) to finish in a tie for 59th overall.

Ian Dahl (Longview, Wash.) shot Seattle U's low round Tuesday by carding a 75 (+3) for the second 18 of the tournament. He finished at 156 (+12) overall and in a tie for 66th place. Joining Dahl at 156 (+12) was Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.), who shot 82 (+10) Tuesday after firing 74 (+2) in Monday's first round.

Also playing at the Thunderbird Invite for the Redhawks was John Pechan (Bothell, Wash.). Pechan scored an 81 (+9) in the second round to finish with an overall score of 159 (+15) and in a tie for 80th place.

CSU Fullerton won the team competition with an overall 575 while Chris Russo of Cal State Northridge took home the individual championship with a score of 140 (-4) over both days.

The Redhawks next tee it up at the Snowman Getaway Invitational at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz. Monday, Feb. 27 and Tuesday, Feb. 28.
