Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.) shot a team-low 74 (+2) for the Seattle University men's golf team as they started their spring season today at the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invite in St. George, Utah.

Seibly, tied for 28th overall in the tournament, opened the round with a 38 on the front nine, but fired back with an even-par 36 over the final nine holes to remain at two over par. Seibly sits seven strokes back from the leader, Brad Millard from Southern Utah, who carded a 5-under 67.

Paul Pavlos (Woodinville, Wash.) and Preston Matchett (Billings, Mont.) both shot 77 (+5) on the day, each taking 41 strokes to complete the front nine and 36 on the back. The pair is tied with 11 other players for 52nd in the individual competition.

John Pechan (Bothell Wash.) took 39 strokes on both portions of the course for a total of 78 (+6) and is tied for 63rd while Ian Dahl (Longview, Wash.) shot an 81 (+9) on the day to sit tied for 80th place to round out the Seattle U contingent.

Overall, the team scored a 306 (+18) on the day and lies in 11th place overall. The hosts, Southern Utah, have the tournament lead with a score of 284 (-4).

The Redhawks tee it up again Tuesday, Feb. 14 for the second and final day of the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invite with an 8:00 a.m. Pacific (9:00 a.m. local) shotgun start time.
