For the second straight tournament, senior Mark Shkrebtan (Redmond, Wash.) has advanced to the semifinals of a consolation bracket, while Jason Bediones (Kent, Wash.) has done the same as play continued at the PNW Intercollegiate Tournament, hosted by the University of Oregon.

After receiving a bye into the quarterfinals of the Green Flight consolation bracket, Shkrebtan defeated Roman Margoulis of Portland State in straight sets (6-4, 6-2) to move into Sunday's semifinals against Moez Echargui of Nevada. Margoulis had defeated Flavio Malagutti (Rio Claro, Brazil) in the first round of the bracket, while Echargui defeated Andrew Anderson (Tacoma, Wash.) in the first round (6-1, 7-6 (1)) before winning his quarterfinal match in three sets.

In the Yellow Flight consolation singles bracket, Bediones also received a bye and then defeated Philip Hinojosa of Nevada in straight sets (6-4, 7-5) to move into the semifinals Sunday morning against Idaho's Filip Fichtel. Elsewhere in the Yellow Flight consolation bracket, Yusuke Kanehira (Tokyo, Japan) lost to Clint Vidano of Idaho (6-3, 6-4), while Zachary Williams (Spokane, Wash.) also fell to a Vandal in Jake Knox (6-3, 6-1).

Simon Meske (Tacoma, Wash.) also picked up a victory in the Green Flight consolation bracket, defeating Portland State's Nick Fracchia in straight sets (6-1, 6-0) in the first round. However, he was also eliminated by an Idaho Vandal, losing to Jose Bendeck in the quarterfinals in straight sets (6-3, 6-4).

Kevin Lynch (Colorado Springs, Colo.), the last Seattle U player alive in a main bracket, lost in the second round of the Yellow Flight to top-seed Aaron Clissold of Oregon in straight sets (6-1, 6-1).

Both Shkrebtan and Bediones are scheduled to play their semifinal matches Sunday, Nov. 6, at 8 a.m., with the finals of each consolation singles bracket taking place later Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
