Volleyball player Jamie Mellies, the 2011 Female Student-Athlete of the Year, received the Rev. Edmund B. McNulty, S.J., Award from the College of Science and Engineering, awarded to an outstanding graduate engineering or computer science student, judged on scholarship, leadership, dedication, and inspiration. Mellies graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering.
Clare Obradovich, a member of the track and field team, graduated magna cum laude with Bachelor of Arts degrees in women studies and sociology, graduating from both programs with departmental honors. Also graduating magna cum laude were track and field athletes Allison Prather (B.A. - Psychology with Departmental Honors) and Becca Urbany (B.A. - English) and volleyball player Emily Deleissegues (B.A. - Business Administration/Management).
Earning cum laude honors from the College of Arts and Sciences were women's basketball player Julee Christianson (B.A. - Journalism) and softball player Katie Gould (B.S. - Sport and Exercise Science). Swimmer Kelsey Henan (B.A. - Economics) earned cum laude honors from the Albers School of Business and Economics, while softball player Kate Zender (B.A. - Humanities for Teaching) received the same from the Matteo Ricci College.
Also graduating cum laude were cross country/track & field athlete Michael Van Nuland (B.S. - Biology) from the College of Science and Engineering and soccer player Kara Kuttler (B.S. - Nursing) from the College of Nursing. Other student-athletes graduating from the College of Science and Engineering included distance runner Adam Kollgaard (B.S. - Mechanical Engineering), track and field teammates Clare Monahan (B.S. - Biology) and Jude Martinez (B.A. - Biology), and swimmer Heather Nelson (B.S. - Biology).
Conor Spink of the baseball team, the 2011 Male Student-Athlete of the Year, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. Receiving their Bachelor of Arts degrees in liberal studies were golfer Chris Holway, baseball player Josh Kalalau, basketball players Garrett Lever and Breanna Salley, and soccer player Ed Walugembe.
Bachelor of Arts degrees in psychology were earned by women's basketball players Mercedes Alexander and Salena Dickerson, volleyball player Janet Beckerman, and soccer player Liz Homer. Other degree recipients from the College of Arts and Sciences included distance runner Nick Cannata-Bowman (B.A. - Journalism), women's basketball player Tatiana Heck (Bachelor of Criminal Justice), and track and field athlete Rachel Purcell (B.S. - Sport and Exercise Science).

The Seattle University athletic department will begin Year Four of the four-year reclassification process towards Division I membership on July 1, 2011. Part of the department's mission statement in action is "to create an athletic culture where student-athletes can realize balanced success in academics, athletics, and in all their collegiate pursuits and experiences."
