SEATTLE, Wash. – Junior swimmer Connie Rae Shobaken (Tualatin, Ore.) has been inducted into the Seattle University chapter of Alpha Sigma Nu, the honor society of Jesuit institutions of higher education.

“I am humbly grateful to be receiving this award,” said Shobaken.

The 2011 Induction Ceremony took place on Monday, April 18 on the campus of Seattle University, with 43 undergraduate, 38 graduate, and five honorary members honored. Shobaken was inducted under the Albers School for undergraduates.

Alpha Sigma Nu was founded in 1915 to honor a select number of students each year based on scholarship, loyalty, and service, and is one of the highest honors that can be given on a Jesuit campus.

“As a member of the swim team, Connie Rae is a beloved team member by her peers,” said head coach Kat Cuevas. “Her sense of humor, positive attitude and hard-working demeanor has created a balance that makes her an extremely valued contributor to the work that we do.”

Shobaken will be returning next year to swim for the Redhawks in the 2011-12 season.
