The Seattle University indoor track and field teams continued its route to the Great West Championships at the Pilot Indoor at the University of Portland on Sunday.
Jennifer Stolle (Seattle, Wash.) came in for the Redhawks and earned first place in the 1000 meter run with at time of 3:18.01. She also placed fourth in the one mile in 5:31.68. Celeste Cassidy (Bellingham, Wash.) came in second in the one mile run in 5:24.79, and also took third in the 300 meter with a new school record time by more than three seconds of 46.14. Mary Thompson (Simi Valley, Calif.) finished third in the 600 meter in 1:47.46 and fourth in the 300 meter run in 46.83. In the shot put, Sara Blakely (Spokane, Wash.) threw 10.36m and Emee Mathew (Redmond, Wash.) threw a distance of 10.32m.
On the men’s side, Erik Barkhaus (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) won the 3000 meter run with a new personal record of 8:33.24, followed by Kevin Kopetz (Derry, N.H.) in fifth in 9:11.13 and Graham Kinzel-Grubbs (Portland, Ore.) in sixth with at time of 9:17.02. Chris Auld (Eugene, Ore.) finished third in the 1000 meter run in 2:42.12 and seventh in the one mile with a time of 4:25.65. Keenan Clinch (Sammamish, Wash.) took fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:03.77.
"We had a lot of solid performances today. No one should be walking away from
what they did today feeling anything other than confident," said head coach Trisha Steidl.
Next week the Redhawks will continue competition at the Husky Classic on February 11-12, and the UW Indoor Open on February 13 at Dempsey Indoor.
