The Seattle University women’s swim team will begin competing again after the winter break, beginning with a two-day meet at Boise State University this coming Friday and Saturday.
“Our women have been preparing during the winter break for our competitions,” said interim head coach Kat Cuevas. “We expect to see some impressive swims from them.”
At the Redhawks’ first home meet of the season in November, the women topped Simon Fraser 110-94, led by Alexis Morehouse (Vancouver, Wash.) with wins in the 200 IM in 2:10.63 and 100 breaststroke in 1:05.27. Kelsey Henan (Billings, Mont.) won the 100 freestyle in 54.13 and Hayley Cobb (Irvine, Calif.) won the 500 freestyle in 5:05.57.
The women headed into the winter break after meets against Utah and BYU. At Utah, Morehouse placed first in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.73) and 200 breaststroke (2:21.02) and Marina Pomar-Enders (Mill Creek, Wash.) won the 500 freestyle in 5:14.98. Briley Boggs (Federal Way, Wash.) also had a first-place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.48.
At BYU, Cobb won the 200 freestyle in 1:55.57 and Morehouse won the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.81.
“Boise is a strong competitor and will offer opportunities to continue our progression to a Division I schedule,” said Cuevas.
The dual meet will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening and then continue at noon on Saturday afternoon.
After the Boise State meet, both men and women will return home to the Connolly Center for a dual meet against Whitworth University on Jan. 28 and then the women will swim against the University of Nevada on Jan. 29.
