Behind a solid, consistent effort by Seattle University's top four golfers, all of whom finished in the top 20, the Redhawk men's golf team finished in fourth place at the Saint Martin's Invitational, held Friday and Saturday at the Olympia Country and Golf Club.

Chris Holway (Longview, Wash.) led the way for Seattle U, shooting rounds of 71, 70, and 71 for a three-round total of 212 (-4), good enough to finish in a tie for 12th place. Just one stroke behind Holway was sophomore Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.), who started with a team-best 67 in Friday's first round and followed that with scores of 75 and 71 to post a cumulative total of 213 (-3) to finish in a tie for 16th place.

Ian Dahl (Longview, Wash.) shot rounds of 72, 71, and 71 for a 54-hole total of 214 (-2) to finish in a tie for 20th place, as did Preston Matchett (Billings, Mont.), who improved each round with scores of 73, 72, and 69 to achieve his total. Kris Jackson (Snohomish, Wash.) finished in a tie for 54th place after posting scores of 78, 75, and 72 over the three circuits of the course.

As a team, Seattle University posted scores of 283, 288, and 282 for a cumulative score of 853 (-11), just four strokes behind third-place team University of British Columbia. Behind the efforts of individual medalist Xavier Dailly, who shot 206 (-10) over the two-day tournament, Western Washington won the team title by five strokes over Chico State.

The Seattle University men's golf team will have a week to prepare for the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 4-5, at Monarch Dunes Golf Club in Nipomo, Calif.
