Morehouse was victorious in the 100 breaststroke, cruising to a three-second victory by posting a time of 1:05.26. Later in the meet, she posted the top time in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:21.24, almost five seconds faster than her closest competitor.
Tina Nguyen (Hillsboro, Ore.) picked up SeattleU's first victory of the afternoon, winning the 100 backstroke by just 25/100ths of a second over Idaho's Staci Stratton. Rachel Leighter (Eugene, Ore.), who finished third behind Nguyen and Stratton in the 100 backstroke, picked up the win in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:08.33.
In the distance events, Marina Pomar-Enders (Mill Creek, Wash.) finished second in the 1650 freestyle, swimming the mile in 17:52.28, and in the 500 freestyle, touching the wall for a time of 5:15.52. Kelsey Henan (Billings, Mont.) posted second-place finishes in back-to-back events, finishing the 50 freestyle in 25.30 seconds and, following the break, swimming the 100 freestyle in 54.43 seconds, just ahead of teammate Elizabeth Hanohano (Honolulu, Hawaii) in third place in 54.52 seconds.
The quartet of Nguyen, Morehouse, Briley Boggs (Federal Way, Wash.), and Henan started off the afternoon with an exciting second-place finish in the 200 medley relay, with Henan touching the wall in 1:51.36, just 1/100th of a second ahead of Idaho. Hanohano, Hayley Cobb (Irvine, Calif.), Boggs, and Henan teamed up to finish second in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:39.70. Boggs also finished second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.77 seconds, with Hanohano earning a third-place finish in 59.94 seconds.
The Seattle University men will join the women in facing Whitworth University Saturday, Nov. 14, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Connolly Center Pool.
