The Seattle University volleyball team could not get on track against Oregon State, as the Beavers picked up a 3-0 victory (25-12, 25-15, 25-13) Sunday afternoon in the third match of the Active Ankle Challenge at Gill Coliseum.

Oregon State (4-1) took control right at the start of the match, scoring the first three points and then scoring five unanswered points to increase its lead to 11-4. The Beavers hit .440 in the first set, outscoring SeattleU 13-4 to finish off the first set in their favor.

Seattle University stayed with the Beavers through the first part of the second set, with back-to-back kills from Cristin Richards (Olympia, Wash.) and Jessica Gunderson (Duvall, Wash.) bringing the Redhawks within two at 15-13. Once again, Oregon State finished the set strong, outscoring SeattleU 10-2 to go into the intermission up two sets to zero.

The Beavers jumped out on top in the third set, using a couple of aces as well as a couple of Redhawk errors to take a 9-3 lead. A block by Kelly Biette (Brighton, Colo.) and Jamie Mellies (Henderson, Nev.) brought SeattleU within three at 11-8, but Oregon State closed out the match with a 11-4 run, punctuating the victory with an ace and a block.

Richards and Kaytlyn Dill (Bothell, Wash.) each finished with six kills, while Emily Deleissegues (Aromas, Calif.) led all players with 15 digs. As a team, Seattle University hit -.105 for the match and earned only two team blocks one day after blocking 17 of Wisconsin's attack attempts.

Rachel Rourke and Jill Sawatzky each earned nine kills to lead Oregon State, with Rourke also earning five blocks and Sawatzky picking up 11 defensive digs. Kiersten Sambrailo finished with eight kills and three total blocks, setter Camilla Ah-Hoy earned 27 assists, five digs, and three total blocks, and libero Alyssa O'Neil contributed 14 digs and three service aces.

Seattle University (1-5) will face off against Cal State Fullerton in its final match of the weekend later Sunday at 5 p.m. The Redhawks then head to California for a ten-day road trip before returning to the Connolly Center to host North Dakota Tuesday, Sept. 22, beginning at 7 p.m.
