Four more school records were broken and many other competitors posted personal records as the track and field team competed at the UW Indoor Open Sunday at Dempsey Indoor.

Rachel Purcell (, ) won her heat and finished fourth overall in the 400 meter dash in a school-record time of 1:00.10, with teammate Clare Obradovich () right behind her in sixth place with a personal best time of 1:00.33. They joined with Rachel Vranizan (, ) and Elizabeth Wolf () in breaking the school record in the 4x400 meter relay, finishing second in that event in 4:04.28.

Alyssa Lout () won her heat of the 60 meter dash, finishing 15th overall with a school-record time of 8.18 seconds. Lout was also the team’s top finisher in the 200 meter dash, finishing 31st overall in 27.41 seconds. Jen Hamann () set a personal record in the one mile run, finishing in 21st place with a time of 5:28.55, plus she finished 20th in the 800 meter run in 2:26.18.

The fourth school record of the day was set by Erik Barkhaus (), who posted a time of 8:48.76 in the 3000 meter run to finish in eighth place. In the same event, Hans Heitzinger (, ) used a personal-best time of 8:55.40 to place 16th, while personal records were also established by Michael Van Nuland (Newcastle, Wash. ? 9:06.80), Adam Kollgaard (Kent, Wash. ? 9:07.00), Matthew McClement (Bellingham, Wash. ? 9:08.29), and Alec Adams (Woodway, Wash. ? 9:34.14).

Ty Jaros () missed the school record in the triple jump by just 3.5 inches, finishing seventh in the event with a top leap of 42’6.75”. He also finished in 14th place in the long jump with a best effort of 20’10”. Nick Cannata-Bowman (, ) finished eighth in the one mile run with a personal-best time of 4:24.93, while Devlin Sweeney () finished second in his heat and 12th overall in the 60 meter hurdles in 9.19 seconds. Jabari Fraser (Bethesda, Md.) and Robert Poshusta (Bremerton, Wash.) both posted personal best times in the 400 meter dash, with Smith running the event in 53.26 seconds and Poshusta finishing in 54.92 seconds.

In the women’s 3000 meter run, personal bests were posted by Sarah Bolce ( ? 10:55.02), Natalie Martinez (San Francisco, Calif. ? 11:08.00), and Jennifer Innes (San Bruno, Calif. ? 11:16.93). Mara Becker (, ) finished tied for ninth in the high jump after clearing a height of 5’1”, Becca Urbany (, ) used a leap of 33’8.75” to finish tenth in the triple jump, and Ariel Johnson () cleared 10’0.5” to finish in a tie for 15th place in the pole vault.

“We saw strong efforts all around from the team today,” head track and field coach Trisha Steidl said. “Along with continuing our streak of setting school records, we had a lot of personal bests and great performances. Again, we are edging ever closer to that next level. I can tell the team wants it and they are not afraid to go after it.”

Select members of the Seattle University track and field team will participate at the UW Last Chance Qualifier Saturday, March 7, at Dempsey Indoor beginning at 11 a.m. Those who will not compete that day will begin to prepare for the outdoor season, which starts with the Peyton Invitational hosted by the of Saturday, March 14, at Baker Stadium in
