The Seattle University swim team posted several more season-best performances as competition concluded in the Husky Invitational Saturday night at the King County Aquatics Center.
Eric Pedack (Snohomish, Wash.) posted season-best times in two individual events, finishing second in the "C" final of the 200 backstroke with a season-best time of 1:53.37 and touching the wall in the morning preliminaries of the 200 butterfly in 1:51.77.
Alexis Morehouse (Vancouver, Wash.) finished 12th overall in the 200 breaststroke, finishing fourth in the "B" final in a time of 2:21.69. In the men’s 200 breaststroke, Doug Djang (Seattle, Wash.) knocked over four seconds off his preliminary time, finishing second in the "C" final with a season-best time of 2:04.57.
Seattle University swimmers posted season-best times in the longest event of the evening, as Kelsey Henan (Billings, Mont.) finished 14th in the women’s 1650 freestyle in 17:46.18, and James White (El Cajon, Calif.) finished 20th in the men’s 1650 freestyle with a time of 16:45.71.
After posting a time of 2:13.42 in the morning preliminaries, Tina Nguyen (Hillsboro, Ore.) lowered the team’s season-best to 2:12.15 in the "D" final of the women’s 200 backstroke, while Chris Fulton (Snohomish, Wash.) earned a top time in the men’s 100 freestyle by posting a time of 46.30 in the preliminaries.
In the final event of the evening and the meet, the quartet of Henan, Hayley Cobb (Irvine, Calif.), Hanna Basler (El Cajon, Calif.), and Elizabeth Hanohano (Honolulu, Hawaii) finished eighth in the 400 freestyle relay with a season-best time of 3:38.64. On the men’s side, Djang, Jordan Anderson (Newberg, Ore.), Jeff Tibbals (Moscow, Idaho), and Fulton combined for a sixth place finish in 3:07.37, another top time for the squad.
Combining the men’s and women’s team scores, Seattle University finished seventh overall with 540 points, ahead of North Carolina State and Boise State. The women finished eighth with 254 points, while the men finished in seventh place with 286 points. USC won the combined and the women’s competition, while California came out victorious in the men’s standings.
The Seattle University swim teams will return to competition Saturday, Jan. 10, against Whitworth University in the first of two home meets this season. The dual meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the Connolly Center.
