Alexis Morehouse (, ) picked up a victory in the 100 yard breaststroke and Doug Djang (, ) finished second in two events as the swimming teams competed at the PCSC Pentathlon and Diving Invitational Saturday at the Cal Baptist Swim Complex.
Morehouse posted the fastest time in the 100 breaststroke by over a second, finishing the race in 1:08.46. Hayley Cobb () finished eighth in that event in 1:12.45 and also finished third in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:12.80 and seventh in the 100 yard butterfly in 1:01.47.
In the women’s 25 yard freestyle, Hanna Basler (, ) finished fourth with a time of 11.83 seconds, while Elizabeth Hanohano () placed eighth with a time of 12.00 seconds. Basler also finished tenth in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.39, and Connie Rae Shobaken () placed tenth in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:23.79.
After finishing seventh in the 100 yard butterfly in 53.98 seconds and in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 55.28 seconds, Djang posted second-place finished in the 100 yard breaststroke in 58.97 seconds and in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 1:58.80.
Freshman Keith Andrews () finished third in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 26.11 seconds and eighth in the 50 yard butterfly in 25.13 seconds. Andrew Martinez (, ) earned a fourth-place finish in the 200 yard freestyle in 1:48.58 and an eighth-place finish in the 500 yard freestyle in 4:58.81, just behind James White (), who finished seventh in that event with a time of 4:57.90.
Eric Pedack () finished fourth in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 52.87 seconds, sixth in the 100 yard backstroke in 55.26 seconds, and eighth in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:03.71. After finishing tenth in the 100 yard backstroke in 56.81 seconds, Bryson Chiu () finished fifth in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:03.11.
In the team competition, the men finished in fourth place with 302.5 points, as Cal Baptist took the title in its home pool with 420.5 points. won the women’s team competition with 704 points, with finishing in sixth place with 135 points.
The swim teams will head to Way, , to face the in a dual meet on Thursday, Oct. 23, beginning at 12 p.m.
