The Seattle University volleyball team played in the first of three spring tournaments this past Saturday, April 12. During the day they faced Northwest University, Saint Martin's University, and Western Oregon University.   The format was two games to 25 and one game to 15. SeattleU performed well, winning games against all their opponents, even though they played some games a man down due to injury.    "Our goals for the spring are to become a better passing team, a tougher serving team, and to develop a more productive offense. This past Saturday proved that our team is making progress and if we stay focused on the right things we are going to reach our goals. Plus it's just fun to see our team play hard!," said head coach Shannon Ellis.   According to Coach Ellis, "Tessa Koutsky and Emily Deleissegues played tenacious defense in the back row and passed very consistently on serve receive. Jessica Gunderson and Libby Graff are becoming very consistent dominant hitters and Jamie Mellies is doing a great job of feeding the ball. Janet Beckerman had the best hitting numbers on the day with 27 kills and only six errors. She will certainly be a force in the middle come the fall. Because of the changes we are making now, our offense will be faster, more exciting, and more consistent next season."    The Redhawks play again this Saturday, April 19, at Concordia University in Portland. On Saturday, April 26, the volleyball team will host a spring tournament featuring Western Washington University, Eastern Washington University, and Oregon State University.   Saturday, April 26 at the Connolly Center 11:30 WWU v.
