Soccer Puts 16 Student-Athletes on Academic All-GNAC Team
Eight Men and Eight Women honored for their work in the classroom as well as on the field
Seattle University Men’s and Women’s Soccer put eight members apiece on the Academic All-GNAC Teams. The total was second most in the GNAC, just one behind Montana State Billings. Student-Athletes were honored for achieving a high GPA as well as being contributing members of their teams.
sophomore Kate Edstrom () had the second highest GPA, 3.97, for both the men’s and women’s team. It was her first honor as freshmen are not eligible for the award.
Seniors Ashley Porter (, ) and Mickey Pelland (, ) and junior Maryann Boddy () all received their third honor as academic All-GNAC. Jen Hamann (, ), Kaitlyn Jackson (, ), and Madison Collins (, ) each earned academic all-GNAC for the second time, while Megan Fogarty () earned her first award.
On the men’s side seniors Eric Forner (Sacramento, Calif.) and John Fishbaugher (Redmond, Wash.) earned academic all-GNAC for the third time. The dynamic duo in the central midfield for had proved to be leaders in the classroom as well.
Peter Mullenbach (, ) was the only second time winner for . First time winners for the Redhawks were Sean Rawson (, ), Chris Hodges (, ), Mutanda Kwesele (, ), Andrew Kreiter (, ), and Cameron Mertens ().
Rawson was the top honoree for the men by achieving a 3.85 GPA, while majoring in International Studies.
Both teams conclude their regular seasons this Saturday, Nov. 3. The women will be home at Championship Field to face Montana State Billings at 1:00 p.m. for their Senior Day. The men travel across town to renew their rivalry with Seattle Pacific at 7:00 p.m. Announcements on postseason sites and pairings will be announced, Monday, Nov. 5.
