Senior Jason Cascio scored the game-tying and game-winning goals, the second one coming midway through the second overtime, to give sixth-ranked Seattle University a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Incarnate Word Monday afternoon in men's soccer action at Championship Field.

Senior Jason Cascio (, ) scored the game-tying and game-winning goals, the second one coming midway through the second overtime, to give sixth-ranked a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Incarnate Word Monday afternoon in men’s soccer action at Championship Field.

On ’s second corner kick of the overtime, John Fishbaugher (, ) sent a pass into the box which found the foot of Cameron Mertens (). Mertens made a short pass to Cascio, who beat Cardinal goalie Gil Ben Nachum just inside the right post to end the match in ’s favor.

After a scoreless first half, Incarnate Word (12-5-1) gained the advantage as Tom Morrill sent a long pass into the box in the 54th minute. Ian Ankney sent a header past goalie Jordan Jennings () for his first goal of the season to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.

tied the match in the 66th minute as Sean Morris () made a crossing pass to Cascio, who was able to elude his defender to receive the pass. Cascio’s shot from short range found the back of the net, tying the match at 1-1. Incarnate Word had two golden chances to retake the lead in the last ten minutes of regulation, but shots by Thomas Mosely and Dustin Lemley were tipped away by , and nothing resulted from the ensuing Cardinal corner kicks.

Cascio, in the final regular season home match of his career, led all players with seven total shots and three shots on goal. He now has 12 goals this season and 30 goals for his career, tying Shawn Good (1988-91) for fifth place on ’s all-time goals list. finished with two saves, as did Nachum.

(15-2) finishes the regular season with a match against Seattle Pacific at Interbay Stadium Saturday, Nov. 3, beginning at 7 p.m. The Redhawks, ranked first in last week’s NCAA regional rankings, will find out their postseason fate next Monday, Nov. 5.
