Six Track and Field Athletes Earn Academic All-GNAC Honors

SPOKANE, Wash. - Two male and four female student-athletes from the Seattle University track and field team were among the 107 honorees on the 2007 GNAC Academic All-Conference Team, announced Wednesday afternoon by the conference office. Senior Garrett Brown (Edmonds, Wash.) earned his second straight academic honor after posting a 3.70 grade point average while majoring in finance. At last weekend's GNAC Championships, Brown finished fifth in the 400 meter hurdles and ran the second leg of the 4x400 relay in which Seattle University finished in third place.

SPOKANE, Wash. - Two male and four female student-athletes from the Seattle University track and field team were among the 107 honorees on the 2007 GNAC Academic All-Conference Team, announced Wednesday afternoon by the conference office.

Senior Garrett Brown (Edmonds, Wash.) earned his second straight academic honor after posting a 3.70 grade point average while majoring in finance. At last weekend's GNAC Championships, Brown finished fifth in the 400 meter hurdles and ran the second leg of the 4x400 relay in which Seattle University finished in third place.

Brock Jahner (Kalispell, Mont.), who finished second in the decathlon at the GNAC Multi-Event Championships, also earned a spot on the Academic All-Conference squad after notching a 3.51 grade point average while majoring in mechanical engineering. Jahner set new school records in the pole vault and the javelin throw at the conference championships last Saturday.

Charisse Arce (Seattle, Wash.) also earned her second Academic All-GNAC honor, majoring in marketing with a 3.53 grade point average. Arce competed in the 1500 meter run, the 3000 meter run, and the 4x400 meter relay at the GNAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships last weekend.

Sophomore Jaime Clark (St. Louis, Mo.) was also honored with a 3.81 GPA. Majoring in social work, Clark competed in the 5000 meter run at the GNAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in February. After competing in the 5000 meter run at both the GNAC Indoor Championships and Outdoor Championships, Rhiannon Cadelinia (San Francisco, Calif.) earned a spot on the Academic All-GNAC squad with a 3.69 grade point average. Natalie Martinez (San Francisco, Calif.), majoring in biology with a 3.22 grade point average, also earned a spot on the Academic All-GNAC team.

The Seattle University track and field team concludes the regular season by competing in the Ken Foreman Invitational, hosted by Seattle Pacific University at West Seattle Stadium on Saturday, May 12, beginning at 9 a.m.
