Accomplished high school basketball coach Patrick Mulligan joined the Seattle University men’s basketball staff as the Director of Player Development beginning in 2017-18.
Mulligan has spent the majority of his coaching and teaching tenure at Wallenberg High School in San Francisco. He served as the boys varsity basketball coach from 1991-2017, the boys varsity golf coach from 1994-2017 and was a social studies and physical education teacher from 1993-17.
Mulligan also served on the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Basketball Advisory Committee from 2002-2017, and ran the Bulldog Basketball Camps in the Bay Area for more than 20 years.
As a prep basketball coach, Mulligan coached his teams into the California state section playoffs nearly every year, while also making eight semifinal appearances, one championship game appearance and one NorCal appearance. He also led his golf teams to 22 section appearances, two section titles and two NorCal appearances. Mulligan was earned a CIF Model Coach Award in 2004 and a Double Goal Coach Award by the Positive Coaching Alliance in 2011.
Prior to his time at Wallenberg HS, Mulligan coached basketball at Lick-Wilmerding High School (1988-91) and baseball at Saint Ignatius College Prep (1986-90), both located in San Francisco.
Mulligan earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Gonzaga and his California Teaching Credentials from San Francisco State.
