Dave Wainhouse, a former major league pitcher who pitched in the major leagues with Seattle, Montreal, Pittsburgh, Colorado, and St. Louis, is headed into his fifth year as pitching coach for Seattle University.
Wainhouse enjoyed a solid collegiate career at Washington State under legendary coach Bobo Brayton from 1986-1988, culminating in a junior year in which he went 7-0 with six saves and a 3.90 ERA in helping the team earn its second consecutive Pac-10 North title and NCAA Tournament berth. A first round selection by the Montreal Expos in the 1988 draft, Wainhouse played professional baseball until 2001, seeing time with the Expos, Seattle Mariners, Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies, and St. Louis Cardinals. Wainhouse played under several legendary managers such as Jim Leyland, Felipe Alou, Tony LaRussa, and Lou Pinella.
He pitched for the Canadian Olympic Team during the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea.
Since retiring from pro baseball, Wainhouse has worked with many youth baseball players in the Seattle area, and he has previously coached a summer team for 18-year-olds.
