REDHAWK HEADLINES

ALL-TIME RECORD
Saturday’s matchup marks the third all-time meeting between Seattle U and Denver, with the Redhawks looking for their first win in the series (0-1-1). The teams last met during the 2025 season in a neutral-site matchup in Missoula, Montana, playing to a 1-1 draw. Caroline Penner netted Seattle U’s lone goal, assisted by Kyla Schuster. Saturday’s contest will also mark the first meeting between the programs as WCC opponents.

LAST TIME OUT
Seattle U recorded its eighth shutout of the season last Saturday, earning a 2-0 road victory at Saint Mary’s. Sophie Hanson scored her first collegiate goal with just nine seconds remaining in the first half, while Leila Leano doubled the Redhawks’ lead in the 58th minute. Kassidy Kirgan made three saves to secure her fourth shutout of the season.

MORE GOALS, MORE WINS
Seattle U is a perfect 11-0-0 this season when scoring two or more goals, outscoring opponents by a combined 37-4 in those contests.

CHAMPIONSHIP AND HOSTING SCENARIOS
The Redhawks need a win on Saturday to secure at least a share of the WCC regular-season title. To earn the No. 1 seed and host the conference tournament, Seattle U will need a victory along with some help from around the league on decision day. The clearest path to hosting would include wins by Saint Mary’s and San Francisco.

SENIOR DAY CELEBRATION
Saturday’s matchup will also serve as Senior Day, as Seattle U honors five Redhawks prior to kickoff. Imani Newby, Kailee Wilson, Kassidy Kirgan, Katie Piburn, and Myah Polzin will be recognized for their contributions to the program.

BYEMAN NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jaelyn Byeman earned WCC Defensive Player of the Week honors following a pair of consecutive shutout performances. The sophomore also made an impact offensively, scoring her first collegiate goal against Portland before assisting on Sophie Hanson’s first career goal at Saint Mary’s. The award marks the first weekly honor of Byeman’s career.

HISTORIC SEASON FOR SCHUSTER
Kyla Schuster turned in a career performance in last Wednesday’s win at Portland, recording three assists to bring her season total to 11. The mark leads the WCC and ranks third nationally. Schuster is now just two assists shy of tying Stephanie Verdoia’s program single-season record of 13, set in 2014.

KAAIHUE HUNTIN TOP 5
U’i Kaaihue is just one goal away from reaching the top five in program history for career goals. With 24 career goals, the senior needs one more to tie Leahi Mathei (2017-21) for fifth place all-time.
