Women’s Soccer Heads to California for Matchup with Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif. – Fresh off a 4-0 victory over San Diego on Wednesday, Seattle U women’s soccer returns to action Saturday, Oct. 10, traveling to face Pacific. Kickoff from Stockton is set for 2 p.m. PT.

ALL-TIME RECORD
Saturday’s matchup marks the third all-time meeting between Seattle U and Pacific, with the Redhawks winning both previous encounters. The teams last met as conference foes a season ago, when Seattle U cruised to a 6-0 shutout at Championship Field. Five different Redhawks found the back of the net, including a brace from Marla Gaudlitz.

LAST TIME OUT
Seattle U posted its fifth 4-0 victory of the season Wednesday, cruising past San Diego at Championship Field. Kailee Wilson scored twice and assisted on Katie Piburn’s fourth goal of the season, while Kassidy Kirgan made five saves to earn her fourth win before Rachael Remnet closed out the final 14 minutes in goal.

The Redhawks have established one of the nation’s strongest home-field advantages, going 7-0-1 at Championship Field while outscoring opponents 26-4. Seattle U has also recorded five shutouts across those eight matches.

REDHAWKS PICKED 5th IN PRESEASON POLL
The Redhawks were picked fifth in the preseason coaches’ poll entering their second season in the West Coast Conference. Seattle U finished tied for fourth with Gonzaga last season, while U’i Kaaihue was the lone Redhawk selected to the preseason All-WCC Team.

WILSON NETS FIRST CAREER BRACE
Senior Kailee Wilson recorded the first brace of her collegiate career in Wednesday’s win over San Diego. The Mililani, Hawai‘i native has matched her single-season career high with six goals and now has 18 for her career, ranking 10th in Seattle U’s Division I history.

SCHUSTER KEEPS ON ASSISTING
Kyla Schuster recorded her eighth assist of the season Wednesday, strengthening her hold on the conference lead while ranking third nationally. The midfielder has registered a point in six matches this season, including multiple points in four of those contests.

TOP RANKED ATTACK
The Redhawk attack leads the WCC and ranks 18th nationally with 94 total points. U’i Kaaihue and Kailee Wilson pace Seattle U with six goals apiece, while Kyla Schuster leads the team with eight assists.

PIBURN’S SENIOR SHINE
Katie Piburn has enjoyed a standout senior season, scoring her fourth goal of the year Wednesday to further extend her single-season career high. The midfielder came into the season with one career goal over her first three seasons.
