MALIBU, Calif. — Seattle University women's soccer dropped a 1-3 decision to Pepperdine Saturday afternoon at Tari Frahm Rokus Field, falling to 7-4-2 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play.
The Redhawks and Waves entered halftime level at 1-1, but Pepperdine scored twice in the second half to pull away.
Pepperdine struck first in the 15th minute before Seattle U answered less than three minutes later. Leila Leano found the back of the net in the 18th minute, with assists from Vivien Villarreal and Katie Piburn, to even the match at 1-1. It was the fourth goal of the season for the sophomore.

Pepperdine regained the lead in the 63rd minute and added an insurance goal in the 77th minute.
The Redhawks finished with 13 shots, including five on target, compared with 19 shots and nine on target for Pepperdine. Goalkeeper Kassidy Kirgan made six saves in the match.
Seattle U will look to bounce back in its next match against San Diego on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Championship Field.
