SALEM, Ore. – Freshman Emma Bellomy broke into Seattle University’s all-time top-20 list to lead a plethora of personal best performances by the Redhawk men’s and women’s cross country team at the 51st Annual Charles Bowles Invitational Saturday in Salem, Ore.
In her first 5K race of the season, Bellomy blazed to a 22nd-place time of 18:06.9, tying her for the 15th fastest time in Seattle U history. Six additional Redhawk women captured personal best times in Saturday’s race as they placed sixth as a team in a field 23 total competing universities. Notching personal best times were Lydia Dale (18:25.5), Aavi Bass (18:29.5), Mira Danish (18:33.2), Adelaide Nelson (18:43.9), Gia Petrini (18:54.9) and Mila Tsai (19:04.7).
On the men’s side, Jeremy Posdon was the Redhawks’ top finisher for the second time this season, placing 18th overall in the 8K race with a time of 24:37.2. Roman Radecki finished 26th in 24:54.5, Jovanny Lieb was 34th in 24:57.8, Preston Schmidt was 53rd in 25:20.5 and Jacob Crisman was 63rd in a personal best time of 25:29.8 to round out Seattle U’s top five finishers.
The Redhawks finished fifth as a team in the field of 23 total competing programs.
Seattle U will return to training for two weeks before closing out the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the George Oja Invitational in McMinnville, Ore. The West Coast Conference Championship will follow on Saturday, October. 31 in San Diego.
