SEATTLE - Joining the fight against breast cancer at the start of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Seattle University volleyball (3-9, 0-2 WCC) hosts Santa Clara (5-10, 1-2 WCC) for its Go Pink for the Cure match inside the Redhawk Center on Saturday, October 3 at 1 PM. Fans, with proof of donation, will receive a free pink Redhawks shirt.

SEATTLE - Joining the fight against breast cancer at the start of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Seattle University volleyball (3-9, 0-2 WCC) hosts Santa Clara (5-10, 1-2 WCC) for its Go Pink for the Cure match inside the Redhawk Center on Saturday, October 3 at 1 PM. Fans, with proof of donation, will receive a free pink Redhawks shirt.

Following her season high 14 kill performance against San Francisco, sophomore Chloee Leslie leads the team with 103 kills this season, averaging 2.51 kills per set. The effort was her fifth double-digit kill match this season and second straight after matching her previous season high 12 kills against Portland in Seattle U’s WCC opener. Leslie ranks 22nd in the WCC in kills.

Hovering around the top-25 in the league in kills are seniors Adee Butler and Teagan Melton, with Butler registering 99 kills through 12 matches to Melton’s 94 kills in 11 matches. Butler paces the trio with 2.54 kills per set, ranking 19th in the WCC.

Orchestrating the offense is junior Grace Jones, who registered her fifth straight performance with 20+ assists. She led both teams in the match against the Dons, logging 23 assists. Jones surpassed 200 season assists for the third straight season and currently ranks 12th in the WCC in assists with 218. Her 5.19 assists per set ranks 13th in the conference through 12 matches.

Guiding the Redhawks from the service line is junior Hailey McEllrath who leads the team with 13 aces, averaging 0.34 aces per set. Jones is now SU’s second player with double digit aces on the year, picking up two against San Francisco to register 10 this season.

Seattle U’s blocking is some of the best in the conference, with sophomore Lexi Jones leading the charge with 44.0 total blocks this season. In 36 sets, Jones has averaged 1.22 blocks per set, while ranking first on the team with eight solo blocks. The middle blocker sits fourth in the conference in solo blocks while Leslie sits behind in fifth with seven solo blocks.

Patrolling the floor is freshman Janae Demant, who leads the team with 143 digs.She sits 13th in the conference in digs, while her 3.40 digs per set ranks eighth in the WCC.

The Redhawks sit seventh in the conference in total blocks with 94.0 through 12 matches. Their 2.24 blocks per set is third in the league while their 25 solo blocks is also good for third in the WCC. From the service line, the Redhawks average 1.34 aces per set, which is good for fifth across the conference. 

Saturday’s meeting is the seventh in the all-time series against the Broncos. Prior to the pair meeting for the first time as conference opponents in 2025, the two teams met four times since 2009. The Broncos lead the all-time series 6-0, securing both wins a season ago while narrowly escaping the Redhawks in Seattle in five sets.
