O'AHU, HI — Seattle U women's soccer battled No. 23 Texas Tech to a 0-0 draw Saturday afternoon in Honolulu, earning a valuable point against the nationally ranked Red Raiders.
After dropping their season opener Thursday and facing a quick turnaround for their second match in three days, the Redhawks responded with a strong defensive performance to hold Texas Tech scoreless.
Seattle U was outshot for the second consecutive match but finished with more shots on frame than the Red Raiders, 7-6. U'i Kaaihue led the Redhawks with three shots, while Katie Piburn and Miyah Suster each added two.
Kassidy Kirgan started in goal and made two saves before Rachael Remnet took over and recorded four saves to preserve the clean sheet.
The result moves the Redhawks to 0-1-1 on the young season and marks their first point against a ranked opponent since drawing then-No. 10 Santa Clara in August 2021.
Seattle U returns to the mainland to prepare for its home opener against Montana on Thursday, Aug. 20. Kickoff from Championship Field is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT.
