SEATTLE — The Seattle U track and field team will be represented across three competitions this weekend.
Azalea Groleau and Seku Sanders will represent the Redhawks at the APU Franson Last Chance Meet in Azusa, Calif., from May 7-9.
Groleau will make her collegiate debut in the 10k race over the weekend. She already holds three spots on the Redhawks’s outdoor track leaderboard, including the top women’s 5000m time (16:46.75), second-best 3000m time (9:59.96), and third-best 1500m time (4:30.34). She’ll have the opportunity to add to an already-decorated career in California.
Sanders’ resume also stacks up well; just last month, he set the Redhawks’ all-time record in the men’s 800m (1:48.75).
A group of Redhawks will also travel to Eugene for the Oregon Twilight, hosted by the University of Oregon on May 8. It will mark the third consecutive year Seattle U has competed in the event; last year, Lilianne Hargreaves set a new school record in the 1500m.
Among the group headed to Eugene are Osaze Williams, Annabelle Clapp, Zoe Tibbo and Matthew Fiso, who collectively hold 15 spots on Seattle U’s all-time top-10 lists.
The remainder of Seattle U’s weekend competitors will take on the Portland Twilight, hosted by Lewis & Clark College on May 9.
The Redhawks will look to build on last weekend’s success at the OSU High Performance Meet, when they recorded 19 PR’s and nine changes to their all-time top-10.
Following this weekend’s competitions, the George Fox Final Qualifier in Newberg, Ore. from May 13-14, will serve as the final meet of the regular season.
