SAN FRANCISCO — PR’s fell all across the west coast for the Seattle U track and field team. 

In a split-squad weekend, the Redhawks competed in both the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in San Francisco, and the Whitworth Peace Meet in Spokane, Wash. 

In San Francisco, there were some new additions to Seattle U’s all-time top-10 list. 

Dan Barreto recorded a personal-best 9:47.16 steeplechase time, the 10th-best in school history. He’s the third active Redhawk in the men’s steeplechase top-10, joining Jeremy Posdon (9:39.86) and Porter Buck (9:41.79). 

On the women’s side, Annabelle Clapp ran a personal-best 4:37.13 in the 1500m, the 10th-best in school history. Clapp also ran a personal-best of 57.71 in the 400m, finishing with the third-best time in the meet and the sixth-best time in Seattle U history.

Back up in Spokane, new records were being set, as well. 

In the men’s javelin, Zachary Schriner improved upon the sixth-best distance in school history with a personal-best 47.68m throw. 

In the women’s hammer throw, Rachel Albright improved upon the sixth-best distance in school history with a personal-best 38.59m throw. 

Matthew Fiso continued to make history with a personal-best 6.52m long jump, propelling him from the ninth-best to fourth-best long jump in school history. Fiso also jumped 14.11m in the triple jump, approaching his personal best of 14.28m, the furthest triple jump in Redhawk history. 

Mira Danish led the way in the women’s 1500m with a time of 4:51.90, with Mila Tsai (4:53.45), Lydia Dale (4:56.24) and Jordan White (4:56.31) closely behind. Peyton Basilio set her PR with a time of 5:13.54. 

In the men’s 1500m, Khalid Hirsi set a PR of 4:05.37. 

In the women’s 400m, Kristina Shkalenkova set a PR and came within a second of the school’s top-10 list. Kaylyn Huynh also set a PR with a time of 1:05.56. 

The women’s 4x400m relay team consisting of Shkalenkova, Basilio, Tsai and Danish recorded a time of 4:10.69. The men’s 4x400m relay team including Alexzander Osorio, Seku Sanders, Riley Tricas and Osaze Demund recorded a time of 3:30.32

The Redhawks will take on another split-squad weekend next with the Larry Byerly Invite in Portland, Ore., from Apr. 17-18, and the Bryan Clay Invite in Azusa, Calif., from Apr. 16-18.
