REDHAWK HEADLINES:
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the second all-time meeting between the Redhawks and Toreros, with San Diego taking a meeting back in 2020. Seattle U has squared off with the Aztecs in four prior occasions and are still looking for their first win in the all-time series.
REDHAWKS SWEEP LIONS
Seattle U baseball secured their first sweep in the West Coast Conference when they took down Loyola Marymount at Bannerwood Park last weekend. It was the first conference series sweep for the program since 2019, when they defeated Chicago State as members of the Western Athletic Conference.
RED HOT BASEBALL
Along with their sweep of LMU, the Redhawks have been on a heater as of late. They have won three of their four conference series and are winners of six of their last seven games.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
After an eight game homestand, the Redhawks are back on the road. SU is 4-12 away from Bannerwood Park with all but three of those games coming in California. They are however, averaging 5.5 runs per game in road games, slightly up from their home contests.
FARRELL THE FLAMETHROWER
Travis Farrell added another seven strikeouts to his tally in last Friday’s game, bringing his season total to 51. He currently leads the team and ranks 5th in the WCC in punchouts.
RYDER FINDS HIS POP
After entering the weekend with zero collegiate home runs, Ryder Manale hit two in the series with LMU. The redshirt sophomore out of Mt. Pleasant, SC also led the team with six RBI in the series.
SMITH KEEPS CLIMBING
In a rare feat, Blake Smith picked up two wins in relief appearances last weekend, bringing his career total to 13. He is now tied for 5th all-time in program history for career wins, matching Skyler Genger (2013-15).
HAMMER TIME
Kale Hammer extended his stretch of quality starts to four after last Saturday’s outing. He currently leads the team in ERA (3.86) and ranks 7th in the WCC.
