High School: Genger played two years of varsity baseball at Kentwood, pitching for the Conquerors. He helped lead the squad to the 2012 state championship and a 25-2 record. In 2011 he was named All-League Honorable Mention at short stop and in 2012 earned First-Team All League as pitcher. In 2012 he had a perfect record of 10-0 with an ERA of .92 along with a batting average of .406, earning the squad's Most Inspirational award. In the 2012 district semi-finals he threw a one-hitter against the number two ranked team in the state and also broke a school record for most saves in a season. Genger also played two years of varsity basketball and one year of cross country. He helped the basketball team make the playoffs in 2010 and 2011, winning the state championship in 2010. When not playing sports, Genger was an Honor Roll student, winning the President's Award for Academic Excellence.

Club Experience: Genger played for the WA RIPS Brewers from 2006 to 2012. He helped lead the Brewers to a state championship in 2008 and a ranking of number two in the nation in 2009.

Personal: Full name Skyler Ward Genger. Parents are Barb and Tres Genger, and he has an older sister named Jessie. Genger comes from an athletic family, as his mom Barb played basketball at the University of Montana, his dad Tres played football at Montana State, sister Jessie played volleyball at Sacramento State, and Genger has two other relations with collegiate athletic experience. Genger is a business management major and would like to own a business after his baseball career.
