SAN FRANCISCO - Seattle U baseball dropped their series finale with San Francisco, 5-8, Sunday afternoon.
"Tough weekend for us," Head Coach Donny Harrel said. "They played better baseball than we did and too advantage of run scoring opportunities that we did not."
It was a game of missed opportunities for the Redhawks as they left 12 runners on base, scoring five runs on 10 hits. Payton Knowles (3-for-5, HR) broke out to lead the team with three hits, while Kenneth Rhein (2-for-5, 2 RBI) and Brandon Stinnett (2-for-5, 1 RBI) were the other Redhawks to drive in runs.
Micah Hagler (2-3) was credited with the loss on the mound, going 5.0 IP while allowing four earned on seven hits. Isaac Hallam, Jake Morell, and Blake Smith all made appearances out of the pen.
"We need to keep working to improve and get ready for a much needed homestand," Harrel added.
The loss drops the Redhawks to 6-17 on the season and to 2-4 in conference play. SU will have a quick turnaround as they host Washington State on Tuesday, March 31, at Bannerwood Park.
