SEATTLE – Seattle University men’s basketball heads out on the road to close out the West Coast Conference regular season. The two-game swing takes the Redhawks to Southern California where they will open the week of play on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at Pepperdine. Tip off from Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu, Calif., is 6 p.m. on ESPN+.

- Seattle U closed out the home portion of its schedule on Saturday, Feb. 21 with a 71-59 win over Portland.
- The win evened the season series against the Pilots and moved the Redhawks to 17-12 on the season and 6-10 in WCC play.
- With two games remaining, Seattle U sits in 7th place in the WCC amidst a log-jammed middle of the standings. Just 3.5 games separate 4th through the three-way tie for 8th as teams battle for seeding in the WCC Tournament.
- Jojo Murphy earned his second straight start, replacing an injured Brayden Maldonado. Murphy added 11 points, his third straight double-digit outing, in a season-high 38 minutes. He also added seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.
- Austin Maurer and John Christofilis shared top scoring billing, each with 14 points. Maurer went 5-of-6 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. Christofilis knocked down four threes for 12 of his 14 points.
- Seattle U finished its home slate with a 13-4 record, including 10-2 at the Redhawk Center and 3-2 at Climate Pledge Arena.

- This marks the 34th all-time meeting between Seattle U and Pepperdine.
- The teams have met just four times in Seattle U’s modern DI era.
- In this season’s first meeting on Feb. 4 in Seattle, the Redhawks were victorious, 83-81.
- Junseok Yeo had 18 points while Will Heimbrodt, Brayden Maldonado and Houran Dan had 13 points each.
- The Redhawks hosted the Waves in the College Basketball Invitational Tournament on March 18, 2015. Seattle U won, 62-45 at the Redhawk Center.
- The all-time series dates back to 1951, though the bulk of the regular meetings came from 1972 through 1980 when the programs were both members of the West Coast Athletic Conference (now WCC).

- Meanwhile, Heimbrodt’s 86 career blocks is fifth all-time at Seattle U. In fourth all-time is Brandton Chatfield (2022-24) with 93 career blocks.
- Maleek Arington’s 64 steals this season moves him into eighth in Seattle U’s single-season record book. In seventh is Dave Anderson (1984-85) with 68 steals.
- Arington’s 137 career steals at Seattle U is seventh all-time. In sixth is Ray Brooks (1983-85) with 138.
- John Christofilis knocked down four threes Saturday night versus Portland, bringing his Seattle U career total to 151. That moves him into a tie for seventh all-time with Chris Gweth (2006-10). Sitting tied for fifth are Jeff Nelson (1997-01) and Riley Grigsby (2019-23), each with 165 career threes.
NUMBERS WATCH
- The 71-59 win over Portland on Feb. 21 was No. 97 at Seattle U for Head Coach Chris Victor. He is three wins away from the century mark while leading the Redhawks. Victor now has 200 wins for his career as a head coach, which also includes six seasons at Citrus College in California.
- On Sunday, Feb. 15, Jojo Murphy surpassed 1,500 points during his collegiate career. The senior who spent his first three seasons at Chico State, hit the marker with a floater in the lane midway through the second half against Oregon State. He finished the night with 11 points and headed into Seattle U’s game at Pepperdine on Wednesday sits at 1,528 for his career.
- Brayden Maldonado is the next Redhawk nearing the milestone marker with 1,395 career points.
