HOUSTON, TX - Seattle U men's and women's swimming concluded their inaugural trip to the Big West Championships on Saturday. The Redhawks kept their success going into day four of the event, setting six new program records and securing two medals.
Making it back-to-back days with a podium finish, Danielis Kvederis took home second in the 200 Backstroke with a program record 1:43.30 finish. He continued his dominant stretch into the 100 Freestyle where he once again put his name atop a record in Seattle U history by finishing at 43.52. This was following his performance yesterday where he took 3rd in the 100 Backstroke and broke his own school record in the same event.
Joining Kvederis on the podium was Brendan Ryan, who also took a silver medal but in the 200 Breaststroke. His time of 1:56.18 was also a new program record, breaking his own top time that he set earlier in the day at 1:57.39
Keanu Lee made sure the ink didn't dry on the men's side, as his name is now on top in the 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:47.95. Capping off the night were Mia David, Ailidh Carroll, Giselle Hollis, and Amanda Miller who combined to set the program record in the 400 Freestyle Relay at 3:25.14.
In all the Redhawks set 14 new program records over the 4-day event and added three medal finishes. Those who qualified will now turn their attention to the National Invitational Championships in Ocala, FL. The event will kick off on Thursday, March 12 and go for three days.
