NORTHRIDGE, CA - Seattle U baseball dropped game two of their 3-game series with CSUN, 3-4, Saturday night. After trailing by four runs after two innings, the Redhawks worked their way back into the game but couldn't get over the hump.

“Good competitive ballgame tonight," Head Coach Donny Harrel said. They took the lead again early, but we got to within striking distance and just didn’t produce the big hit."

Kenneth Rhein helped produce the first run of the day when a leadoff double in the 4th put him into scoring position. A couple groundouts later brought him home to cut the deficit to three.

The Redhawks then got their first home run of 2026 when Payton Knowles blasted a 2-run shot to right center, bringing home Jared Stevenson who walked to begin the inning. Those would be the last runs of the game for either side, as the Redhawks stranded their final three base runners.

In Kale Hammer's (0-1) first start of the season, he would go 4.2 IP and allow four earned on four hits while striking out three. Issac Hallam and Blake Smith would combine to get the final seven outs of the game, not allowing a single run.

"Hammer got to his pitch count, so that helps moving forward and Hallam was outstanding out of the pen," Harrel added. "We need to find a way to create more runs tomorrow to salvage the weekend.”

The loss drops the Redhawks to 0-2 on the young season as they drop the series with CSUN. They will look to avoid the sweep in game three tomorrow, Feb. 15, when Micah Hagler gets the start. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00pm PT and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
