SEATTLE — A group of Redhawks made the trip up I-5 for the UW Invite over the weekend, held inside Dempsey Indoor from Jan. 30-31.
Matthew Fiso came back with a new PR, and the second-best triple jump in Seattle U history.
In the men’s triple jump, Fiso soared 13.73 meters, overtaking his own personal-best of 13.69 meters as the second-longest indoor triple jump in school history. With the new PR, Fiso closed some of the gap between himself and the top triple jump in school history – 13.82 meters set by Nick Bever in 2014.
Competing unattached, Fiso’s jump Saturday was the fourth-best in the field of nine jumpers, and easily cleared his 12.98 meter triple jump from the UW Preview on Jan. 17.
Zoe Tibbo also competed unattached, just two weeks after competing in the UW Preview.
Tibbo competed in her signature events, the long jump and triple jump. In each event, Tibbo holds a top-five distance in school history. On Friday, Tibbo jumped 11.03 meters in the women’s triple jump, improving upon her 10.78 meter jump in the UW Preview. In the long jump, Tibbo recorded a 4.88 meter distance. She also recorded an 8.32 second time in the 60 meter dash – an improvement of her 8.45 second time in the UW Preview.
The weekend festivities didn’t stop there; in Reno, NV, Rachel Albright competed in the weight throw and super weight throw at the PAUSATF Indoor Championships. Albright set a new PR of 12.44 meters in the women’s weight throw, and threw 7.55 meters in the super weight throw.
