SEATTLE – The shots just weren’t falling for Seattle University men's basketball on Saturday night.

Brayden Maldonado scored 12 points, and Houran Dan came off the bench for 10, but the Redhawks dropped a 71-50 men’s basketball decision to No. 9-ranked Gonzaga inside Climate Pledge Arena.

Facing the Zags for the second time in two weeks, Seattle U (13-7, 2-5 West Coast Conference) hit just 35.8 percent from the field, draining 19-of-53, while also committing a season-high 18 turnovers.

The Redhawks got off to a quick 6-2 lead on 3-pointers by Junseok Yeo and Maldonado. But the Zags (19-1, 7-0 WCC) responded with a 9-0 run to take an 11-6 lead.

Seattle U was still well within range at halftime, trailing by just eight at 32-24. The deficit was twice cut to as low as four, the last time at 39-35 with 11:46 still on the clock.

But Gonzaga pulled away with a 19-7 scoring surge for a 58-42 advantage at the 6:24 mark.

By the Numbers

--Houran Dan was perfect 4-of-4 from the floor for the Redhawks. Maldonado drained 5-of-12.

--Dan also came up with three steals.

--Will Heimbrodt grabbed of six Seattle U’s 24 rebounds. He also had three blocked shots, including his 50th of the season. He now has 51.

--Mario Saint-Supery had 20 points for Gonzaga, which now has won 12 in a row.

--The Bulldogs hit 46.7 percent from the floor (28-of-60), and were at 53.8 percent during the second half (15-of-28).
