SEATTLE – Seattle University men’s basketball brings its four-game win streak back home for a Friday night showdown with crosstown foe Washington. The annual Battle for Seattle will be contested at Climate Pledge Arena for the second time. Tip off is set for 8:30 pm and the game will broadcast live on ESPN2.

- Seattle U earned its second consecutive true road win of the season, beating UC Davis, 79-78, on Wednesday, Dec. 17 in Davis, Calif.
- The win over the Aggies moved the Redhawks to 9-2 on the season, marking the best start to a season since 1968-69. That season, nearly 50 years ago, the program also 9-2 before suffering a third loss.
- The last time a Seattle U team started a season better than 9-2 was 1966-67. That team won seven straight to open the season, moved to 10-1 and 11-2 before losing for a third time.
- In Seattle U’s modern DI era, the previous best start to a season was 8-2 in 2022-23. The Redhawks went on to win their first Western Athletic Conference regular season championship and finish the year 20-12.
- Will Heimbrodt tallied his fourth 20-point game of the season against the Aggies, finishing with 20 points, including the game-winning free throw. The redshirt sophomore added four blocks and four rebounds in the win.
- Junseok Yeo had 15 points and nine rebounds. Austin Maurer had career-highs of 14 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Brayden Maldonado added 12 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals.
- The Redhawks have shot better than 50% from the field in five of their first 11 games and have shot over 45% in 10 of 11 contests. Their season average of 52.1% ranks among the best in the nation.
- Brayden Maldonado made his first 21 free throws of the season before suffering a miss. He is currently riding a streak of 19 consecutive makes and ranks second in the WCC and 4th in the nation at 97.3% (40-41) from the stripe.
ABOUT THE SERIES VS WASHINGTON
- • Seattle U snapped a 19-game UW win streak in the series with a 79-70 on Montlake last season.
- Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe paced the Redhawks in the first win over the Huskies since 1978 with career highs of 23 points and 16 rebounds. John Christofilis added 21 points, Paris Dawson had 10 points and Houran Dan went a perfect 4-4 FGs and 2-2 FTs for 10 points.
- Washington leads the all-time series over Seattle U, 35-5.
- Seattle U has never won consecutive meetings with the Huskies.
- Friday’s meeting marks the 41st in the series between the crosstown foes. It also marks the 18th straight year that the programs have met.
- The last meeting in Climate Pledge Arena was a double overtime thriller in 2023. The Redhawks led 47-33 at halftime, but UW was victorious, 100-99.
- That Dec. 17, 2023 meeting was the first in the series to go into extra time.
- Alex Schumacher had 20 points, Cameron Tyson had 18, Brandton Chatfield had 17 and Paris Dawson added 16.
- Modern-day meetings between the two schools was brought back in the 2008-09 season.
- The crosstown series originally began in the 1953 NCAA West Regional semifinals, with Washington earning a 92-70 victory.

- The Redhawks lead the WCC in 3PT FG% (39.5).
- The team also ranks second in FG% (52.1), blocks per game (5.0), steals per game (8.91), turnover margin (3.27) and scoring margin (16.5).
- The Redhawks are third in scoring offense (82.9).
- Brayden Maldonado ranks sixth in scoring (16.2 pgg). He also ranks third in FG% (54.2%) and second free-throw percentage (97.6%).
- Will Heimbrodt is 10th in scoring (14.8 ppg), second in FG% (55.4%) and leads the league in blocks per game (2.7).
- Maleek Arington leads the WCC in steals per game (2.2) and ranks fourth in assists per game (5.0).
NCAA NET RANKING
- The first NET ranking of the season debuted on Dec. 1. Seattle U debuted at 109 which was the fifth highest in the West Coast Conference.
- In games played through Dec. 17, the Redhawks sit at 106, still fifth in the WCC behind Gonzaga (3), Saint Mary’s (25), Santa Clara (71) and Pacific (101).
