SEATTLE – Seattle University men’s basketball takes its three-game win streak on the road to California, traveling to face the UC Davis Aggies at University Credit Union Center in Davis, Calif., on Wednesday Dec. 17. Tip off is 6 p.m. and the game will broadcast live on ESPN+.

  • Seattle U put up a season-high in points in a runaway 115-60 win over Warner Pacific on Dec. 13 at the Redhawk Center, moving to 8-2 on the season.
  • The eight wins through 10 games matches the best start to a season since 2022-23. That year, the Redhawks won five straight before suffering a loss. Their record went to 8-2 before suffering a third loss.
  • The last time the Redhawks started a season 9-2 or better was 1968-69. That team was also 9-2 before suffering a third loss.
  • John Christofilis had a season-high 20 points in the win over Warner Pacific.
  • Brock Felder collected his first career double-double, finishing with a career-high 19 points to go with 10 rebounds. He shot 9-of-10 from the field and 1-of-1 from the free-throw line.
  • Also in double figures was Jojo Murphy (15), Houran Dan (12) and Yuto Kawashima (12). Dan and Kawashima’s point totals were both career highs.
  • The Redhawks shot 60% from the field against the Knights, including 43.5% from three (10-for-23).
  • The Redhawks have shot better than 50% from the field in five of their first 10 games and have shot over 45% in every contest. Their season average of 53.1% ranks among the best in the nation.
  • Brayden Maldonado made his first 21 free throws of the season before suffering a miss. He is currently riding a streak of 17 consecutive makes and ranks second in the WCC and 4th in the nation at 97.3% (38-39) from the stripe.
  • John Christofilis has poured in 122 threes in two-plus seasons at SU, putting him in striking distance of entering the SU all-time top-10 list this year. Sitting tied for 10th are Mack Junior (95-99) and Arne Klubberud (95-99), each with 144 career threes.
  • Maleek Arington enters Wednesday’s match-up at UC Davis with 847 career points and will eye becoming a third member of the 2025-26 squad to surpass 1,000 career points. He would join Jojo Murphy (1,445 career points) and Brayden Maldonado (1,178 career points).

ABOUT THE SERIES VS UC DAVIS

  • The Redhawks and Aggies have 10 previous meetings with Seattle U holding a 6-4 lead in the all-time series.
  • The first meeting between the two schools came in 2003 and resulted in a 65-55 UC Davis win.
  • The teams then met nine times during Seattle U’s early return to Division I, a path the Aggies had taken in the mid-2000’s as well.
  • Seattle U won four straight games from 2012 to 2015 before UC Davis earned a 72-65 win in 2016 – the last meeting between the two programs.

  • The Redhawks lead the WCC in FG% (53.1) and 3PT FG% (40.1).
  • The team also ranks second in steals per game (8.90) and turnover margin (3.80) and scoring margin (18.0). • The Redhawks are third in scoring offense (83.3), scoring defense (65.3) and blocks per game (4.9).
  • Brayden Maldonado ranks sixth in scoring (16.6 pgg). He also ranks fourth in FG% (57.0%) and second free-throw percentage (97.4%).
  • Will Heimbrodt is 11th in scoring (14.2 ppg), third in FG% (59.0%) and leads the league in blocks per game (2.6).
  • Maleek Arington leads the WCC in steals per game (2.3) and ranks fourth in assists per game (4.9).

NCAA NET RANKING

  • The first NET ranking of the season debuted on Dec. 1. Seattle U debuted at 109 which was the fifth highest in the West Coast Conference.
  • In games played through Dec. 15, the Redhawks sit at 110, still fifth in the WCC behind Gonzaga (3), Saint Mary’s (23), Santa Clara (58) and Pacific (83).
