SEATTLE - The Seattle University women's golf team has made two new signings for the 2026-27 season, welcoming Niya Friesen and Alayna Rafique to the Redhawk squad.

Friesen hails from Swift Current, Saskatchewan in Canada, and has racked up some impressive accolades, including being the South Saskatchewan District Champion in 2022 and 2023. She won the MJT Regional Order of Merit in 2023 and competed on Team Saskatchewan in 2023 and 2024. Notably, in 2025 she competed as a member of the Alberta team in the Junior Americas Cup.

Rafique is from Dubai in the UAE, and was a member of the England NW squad from 2022-24, and joined the JGE scratch league in 2025. She claimed second in the Sir Henry Cooper Championship in 2025, and third in the Tommy Fleetwood International Pathway Series.

"These two ladies are incredibly talented, and are willing to both learn and work hard," said head coach Marc Chandonnet. "They are both fantastic students and teammates, and truly embody what we look for in a recruit – passionate, hardworking and appreciative. We can't wait to have then on campus and know they will be ready upon arrival to compete."
