SEATTLE — The stage is set for the Seattle U cross country team’s first West Coast Conference Championship.
The Redhawks will look to make their mark in the WCC on Saturday, Nov. 1, when they head to The Course Spokane Valley, in Spokane Valley, Wash. The women’s team will race the 6k at 10:05 a.m, and the men’s team will race the 8k at 11:05 a.m.
The women’s team is no stranger to the 6k race – they raced it at the Cougar Classic on Sep. 12, as well as the recent Bronco Invite on Oct. 18. In the Bronco Invite, Azalea Groleau finished sixth with a time of 20:53. Groleau is already the school’s all-time record holder in the 6k. Also looking to improve upon their impressive Bronco Invite showings are sophomore Annabelle Clapp (22:25), and freshman Mira Danish (22:30).
The men’s team received a dress rehearsal of their own in Santa Clara, as they raced the 8k at the Bronco Invite. Roman Radecki ran a 25:02, which came five seconds away from his personal best set at the Charles Bowles Invitational, which was good for the 12th best 8k time in school history. The freshman will have an opportunity to climb the leaderboard in his curtain call this weekend. Seku Sanders (25:45) will also look to build off his impressive Bronco Invite performance, along with the freshman duo of Casey Miller and Alexzander Osorio (26:21).
The Redhawks will cut the WCC Championship red tape for Seattle University this weekend; the cross country conference championships are the first held across all Seattle U sports since re-joining the conference.
Following the WCC Championship, Seattle U will take on the NCAA West Regional on Friday, Nov. 14, in Sacramento, Calif.
