ST GEORGE, UT - Behind a trio of home runs, Seattle U baseball took down Utah Tech, 12-2, in seven innings on Saturday. Sam Kane had a pair of 3-run blasts while Kenny Ishikawa launched a grand slam in the 5th as the Redhawks evened the series with the Trailblazers.
Kane went back-to-back innings with home runs, giving the Redhawks the lead in the 1st before extending it in the second. They were his 21st and 22nd career long balls, bringing him within two of tying Matt Boissoneault for most in program history.
Ishikawa's grand slam was his 8th on the season, tying him with Vicente Feliciano for 2nd on the team behind Kane. It was also his 30th extra base hit in 2025, extending his team-leading lead in the category even further.
Micah Hagler (3-2) picked up another win on the mound, allowing just two earned over 5.1 IP. Despite having traffic on the base paths often, he was able to pitch out of tough situations and lean on his run support.
The win moves the Redhawks to 16-28 overall and to 5-12 in conference play. The victory also pushes them back in sole possession of the final spot in the Western Athletic Conference tournament, back to one game above Utah Tech. Seattle U will look to extend that lead and secure the tie breaker in the series finale tomorrow. Ishikawa will make the start with a 10:00am PT first pitch.
