ARLINGTON, TX - Behind standout performances from Kenny Ishikawa and Jake Wagoner, Seattle U baseball defeated UT Arlington, 10-5, late Friday night. The Redhawks tied a season-high with 16 team hits as they took the series and kept their post season hopes alive.
Ishikawa did it from both the mound and plate on the night, going seven innings and only allowing two earned while striking out nine. He would go 2-for-4 with two RBI and a walk to give himself run support. The win on the hill was his team-leading 5th of the season.
Wagoner carried over his performance from last night's game into today's, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI. It was the third time this season that the Cedar Park, Texas native recorded four hits in a single game.
Sam Kane (3-for-5, 2 RBI), Tyler Peterson (3-for-4, 1 RBI), and Vicente Feliciano (2-for-5, 1 RBI) made it five Redhawks to record multi-hit performances on the day. Eight total SU batters reached base at least once in the offensive showing.
The win moves the Redhawks to 20-31 on the season and to 8-15 in conference play. They also kept their hopes of a WAC Tournament berth alive, tying Utah Tech with eight wins. With the Trailblazers holding the tiebreaker over the Redhawks, Seattle U will need a win tomorrow and a Trailblazer loss to Sacramento State to punch their ticket to Mesa, AZ.
The regular season finale against UT Arlington is set for tomorrow, May 17, with first pitch coming at 9:00am PT. The game will once again be streamed live on ESPN+.
