BELLEVUE, WA - Behind a strong start on the mound from Kenny Ishikawa and timely run scoring from the offense, Seattle U baseball took down California Baptist, 6-2, Sunday afternoon at Bannerwood Park.
The Redhawks jumped out to an early lead when a Lancer error in the 1st inning allowed Ishikawa to score. Ishikawa would then be involved in the second run for the home side, when his double in the 4th drove home Jackson Lind. Tyler Peterson would follow that with a sacrifice bunt to plate Hunter Komine, allowing Seattle U to take a three-run lead.
CBU would not be shut out on the day, scoring a single run in the 5th and 6th to make it a 1-run game. SU would erase those runs with three of their own in the 8th, driven off the bats of Tyler Peterson RBI single and Sam Kane 2-run single.
Backing up the hitting was a strong outing on the mound for Ishikawa (4-6), who allowed just two earned over six innings while striking out five. Luke Alwood would also have a standout day in relief, not allowing a single run during a 2.2 IP stint.
A feel-good story for senior day was Brady Liddle, who picked up his first collegiate save in his final game at Bannerwood Park. He came into the game in the 9th with two on and two out, striking out the final Lancer batter to secure the victory.
The win moved the Redhawks to 18-31 overall this season, to 6-15 in conference play, and closed out their 2025 home schedule with a mark of 14-11. They will be back in action next weekend when they close the regular season with a 3-game series at UT Arlington starting Friday, May 15.
