TACOMA, Wash. – The Seattle University Redhawks started the outdoor season with a bang at the PLU Open. The Redhawk performance included five new all-time top-ten times for Seattle U as well as ten new personal bests.

Rachel Albright started the weekend off strong for the Redhawks in the hammer. Albright had a throw of 33.08m, a personal best and the eighth-best hammer throw in SU history. It was the best hammer throw by a Redhawk since 2021, when Jami Tresselt had SU's fifth-best throw ever.

The javelin alone saw three new times in SU's all-time top ten. Zachary Schriner had the sixth-best javelin throw in program history and its best since 2015, when Chris Scaffa had a 49.16m throw. Jackson Jarrett also made the top ten with a 37.32m throw, tenth-best in SU history. Rock Gignac also set a personal best in the event with his throw of 28.65m. On the women's side, Hoku Matsushima had the sixth-best throw in SU history: her 35.61m throw was just .24m behind Renate Wescott's fifth-place 35.85m throw in 2012.

Matthew Fiso tied Amadeus Eckart for tenth in SU history in the long jump with a 6.34m leap. He was just one inch behind Xavier Kelley's 6.35m long jump from 2021.

Sierra Swart had a personal best in the 1500, one of ten personal bests for the Redhawks at the PLU Open. Mia Talarico (200m), JR Zamora (400m), and Sean Ellison (100m) all recorded wind-aided personal bests.

While Manthita Wague's 5.47m long jump was not a new personal best, it was the best long jump in the entirety of the PLU Open. Wague and Zoe Tibbo finish first and second in the triple jump as well, with jumps of 11.67m and 11.16m.

The Redhawks will be in Oregon next for the Oregon Preview. That meet, taking place in Eugene, will be on March 21 and 22.
