SPOKANE - Sam Kane sparks a rally with a grand slam and Vicente Feliciano caps the run off with a 2-run home run in the 9th as Seattle U baseball came back to defeat Gonzaga, 10-8, Wednesday night in Spokane. The Redhawks found themselves down by as many as five runs in the ballgame but scored eight runs in the final two innings to knock off their in state foes.

"Our offense was relentless tonight," head coach Donny Harrel said post-game. "They just stayed on the attack even while trailing in the game."

Seattle U took a quick lead in the game when Kenny Ishikawa hit a lead-off home run in the very first at-bat of the night, but Gonzaga would respond by scoring 6-unanswered to take the lead after five innings of play.

After Reese Harmon got one run back with an RBI single in the 6th, Kane would blast a grand slam in the 8th to tie the game at six. It was Kane's 4th home run of the season and moved him into 8th all-time in program history as the 13th of his career.

The Bulldogs would not let the Redhawks celebrate for long as they answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the 8th to reclaim the lead.

Jake Wagoner would keep the late offensive explosion going with an RBI triple to start the 9th that scored Ishikawa. Harmon would keep his clutch night going by plating Wagoner with a blooper that landed just inside the left field foul line. Vicente Feliciano then proceeded to hit a mammoth 2-run shot to right field that put Seattle U up by two.

"Big slam by Kane to make it a new game," Harrel added. "Wagoner and Harmon to give us the lead and then after they tied it, Feliciano's blast ignited the club."

Ishikawa (1-2), who took over on the mound in the 8th, closed the game out with a game-ending strikeout as the Bulldogs had the tying run at the plate. The win was the first for Ishikawa on the season.

"Big kudos to Ishikawa coming in from left field and picking up some big outs and a win for us," Harrel added of his do-it-all sophomore. "Fun way to start the road trip."

The victory moves the Redhawks to 3-9 on the season as they have now won three of their last four. They will continue their road trip when they open up a 3-game series with Washington State starting Friday, March 7, in Pullman.
