SEATTLE - For the sixth year in a row, the Seattle University Redhawks will compete in the Bandon Dunes Championship, hosted by Idaho. The Redhawks will be one of 16 teams in this year's field, along with Idaho, Oregon, Morehead State, SIUE, Eastern Kentucky, Tarleton, North Dakota State, Air Force, Utah Tech, Boston College, San Jose State, CSUN, Boise State, Utah Valley, and North Idaho College.

The Redhawks will be back in action for the first time since the Mesquite Desert Classic in mid February. That tournament was an impressive showing for Seattle U, which had two rounds at -10 under par as a team, in rounds one (-10) and three (-12). Those were two of Seattle U's seven team rounds of -10 or greater in program history. Four of those seven rounds of -10 or better have come this season.

Ben Ragland was the top performer at the Mesquite Desert Classic, including a -5 under, 67 round that was the best of his collegiate career. Ragland took seventh place individually, tying with Walker Lamb. Lamb also had a career-best round, shooting a -4 under, 68 in round one.

The last two years have seen hazardous conditions at the Bandon Dunes Championship. 2024's competition was canceled entirely, while the 2023 competition was reduced to two rounds. Liam Gill was Seattle U's top finisher at that 2023 event as he took 12th overall in the two-round competition. Gill finished at +2 over across 36 holes, with rounds of +4 over, 76 and -2 under, 70.

Gill and Ragland are the only current Redhawks who have taken part in the Bandon Dunes Championship. Ragland also competed in the 2023 edition, sinking eight birdies en route to a +6 overall across 36 holes. Gill has competed in the Bandon Dunes Championship twice: in 2022 as a freshman, he had a score of +19 over 54 holes.

This year, the Bandon Dunes Championship will be Seattle U's second time competiting in Oregon. Earlier this season, the Redhawks took part in the OSU Invitational in Corvallis, where they had a team score of +17. Gill took eighth overall at -1 across 54 holes. Kevin Li finished at +2 over thanks in part to two rounds under par: a -1 under, 70 and -2 under, 69 in rounds one and three.
